Verbal Lease Agreement Virginia

This year, the Virginia legislature has taken steps and made great strides to protect a tenant`s interests. At its last meeting, the Virginia General Assembly passed a new set of laws that repealed all old tenant rental laws and created very powerful new tools for tenants. Probably the most effective new law is Virginia Code Section 55.1-1204 (C), which deducts a lease with certain conditions, even though there is no written physical lease that could be talked about. (4) If a person resides in a hotel, motel, long-term establishment, vacation home, including those under the Virginia Real Estate Time-Share Act (sections 55.1-2200 et seq.), a pension or similar temporary accommodation as a principal residence for more than 90 consecutive days or subject to a written rental agreement of more than 90 days, such accommodation shall be subject to the provisions of this Chapter. . . .
